Dutch grid operator and tax authority hit by email delivery problems

A Dutch grid operator (netbeheerder) failed to deliver an invoice after its email was rejected by the recipient’s server due to improper SPF and DMARC settings. The sender’s mail system was not listed in the SPF record, causing the message to be discarded, which the author notes “Spamfilters are your choice”. The same organization also mailed a paper copy that got lost in the post.

Separately, a taxpayer reports that a letter from the Dutch Tax Administration (Belastingdienst) dated 12 May arrived late, with the agency’s phone lines over‑burdened, making it difficult to obtain clarification. Both cases illustrate how technical email authentication issues and postal delays can impede the receipt of official communications in the Netherlands.
