Dutch healthcare providers expand digital accessibility for patients
Healthcare providers in the Netherlands are implementing new initiatives to improve digital accessibility for patients. St Jansdal hospital has launched a new website designed with simplified language. Developed in collaboration with patients, experts, and social organizations, the site uses language levels close to A2 to ensure medical information is understandable for those with limited Dutch proficiency or complex medical terms.
In Zeeland, several healthcare organizations, including Emergis, Adrz, and Amarijn, have partnered with the Helpdesk Digitale Zorg. This service provides assistance to individuals struggling with digital healthcare tasks, such as logging in with DigiD, viewing blood test results, or using health apps. The initiative aims to support elderly patients and those less comfortable with technology as medical services increasingly move to digital platforms.
