Dutch investment firms launch new funds for tech and biotech
Dutch investment firms are securing significant capital to support early-stage and life sciences sectors. Graduate Ventures has launched a second seed fund with a target of 125 million euros, having already secured 100 million euros in commitments. The fund is backed by public investors like Invest-NL and regional agency Oost NL, alongside prominent entrepreneurs including former ASML CEO Peter Wennink. The capital will target startups in artificial intelligence, deep tech, healthcare, and climate tech, leveraging a network of eight Dutch universities and three university hospitals.
Separately, life sciences investor Forbion has raised a record 2.3 billion euros through two new funds: Forbion Growth Opportunities Fund IV and Forbion Ventures Fund VIII. The capital is intended to finance approximately 30 biotech companies, supporting both new drug developers and those in clinical development stages. Investors include Dutch pension managers MN and PGGM, Germany’s KfW Capital, the Kauffman Foundation, and Eli Lilly. Approximately 60% of the capital originated from European investors, while 40% came from North America.
