Dutch MP Gidi Markuszower defends remarks on Palestinian refugees amid asylum riots

In a debate in the Dutch Tweede Kamer, the Minister of Asylum expressed disgust at the riots at the Loosdrecht asylum centre and reaffirmed commitment to implement the dispersal law. Vice‑prime minister Dilan Yesilgöz also stressed that “those people must leave the street.”

Member of parliament Gidi Markuszower, a former PVV politician, had previously made controversial statements about stopping Palestinian refugees with force. He later partially back‑tracked, saying on the radio programme Sven op 1 that he should have phrased his comments more sharply for the Left Laser platform, but he did not withdraw the substance of his remarks.
