Dutch municipalities approve new housing projects in Uithoorn and Opmeer

The municipality of Uithoorn signed an agreement with the owner of the former AVIA service station on Heijermanslaan to replace the site with 20 apartments, three commercial units and upgraded public space. The plan includes four affordable‑price apartments, additional green areas, new pedestrian and cycling routes and extra parking, aiming to improve the Zijdelwaard neighbourhood.

In Opmeer, the local council and developer Thunnissen signed a development agreement for Park Meibloem, converting former school sites into 60 homes and a new village park. The mix comprises starter homes, senior‑friendly units and a limited free‑sector offering, with sustainable features such as green roofs, water elements and preserved trees. Construction is slated to begin in late 2027 after demolition of the schools.
