Dutch municipalities issue gift cards to volunteers and caregivers

Municipalities in the Netherlands are issuing gift cards to recognize the contributions of volunteers and informal caregivers.

In The Hague, the municipality is offering gift cards to caregivers and volunteers as a token of appreciation. Recipients can choose from over one hundred different gift card options through a dedicated webshop. Officials noted that these individuals are essential for social connection and community support. Applications are open until December 24.

In Goeree-Overflakkee, up to 1,750 volunteers can apply for a 15-euro digital gift card. This initiative replaces the local Volunteers Festival. The municipality encourages recipients to spend the vouchers locally. Applications can be submitted via the municipal website using DigiD until December 7, or until the available vouchers are exhausted.
