Dutch municipalities Lisse and Tilburg present 2027 budgets

Municipalities in the Netherlands are presenting their 2027 budgets as part of long-term strategic planning.

In Lisse, the mayor and aldermen have submitted the 2027 program budget to the municipal council. This budget serves as the first implementation of the ‘Met elkaar voor Lisse 2026-2030’ council agreement. Key focus areas include housing projects such as Oude Postkantoor and Geestwater to support various demographics, social initiatives like ‘t Poelhuys and De Beukenhof, and infrastructure improvements including bicycle path maintenance and greening the town center. The council is scheduled to discuss the budget in November.

In Tilburg, the 2027 budget totaling €1.3 billion has been presented. The plan includes annual increases in municipal taxes for homeowners through 2030. Specifically, the property tax (OZB) is set to rise by 5.5%, while the sewage levy will increase by 8.8%. Conversely, waste collection fees are expected to decrease slightly due to a growing number of households sharing the costs. The municipal council will finalize the budget in November.
