Dutch municipalities Raalte and Bodegraven‑Reeuwijk report strong 2025 finances

The municipality of Raalte reported a positive financial outcome for 2025, ending the year with a €4.1 million surplus and a total budget of over €150 million. The town added nearly 300 new homes, grew its population to more than 39,000, and upgraded stations in Raalte and Heino. Investments were made in public spaces, the social domain, and infrastructure, while the financial position remained solid with ample reserves.

Bodegraven‑Reeuwijk also closed its 2025 fiscal year with a surplus of €8.9 million and reduced its loan portfolio by roughly €20 million, lowering total debt from €154 million to €134 million. The municipality added €4.6 million to its reserves, invested in road improvements, and opened a new school building that was named School Building of the Year 2025. Additional initiatives included a new cultural vision, health measures, and support for residents such as isolation subsidies.
