Dutch municipalities Stadskanaal and Voorst release draft environmental visions

The municipalities of Stadskanaal and Voorst have released draft environmental visions (Omgevingsvisie) for public inspection and comment.

In Stadskanaal, the local government is proposing an amendment to the environmental vision to incorporate a new housing vision. This draft, which covers the entire municipality, is available for public review from March 12, 2026, until April 22, 2026. Residents can submit formal views (zienswijzen) digitally, by mail, or orally.

In Voorst, the draft environmental vision outlines the municipality's long-term goals for 2050, including housing, business locations, recreation, nature, and infrastructure. Developed in collaboration with residents and entrepreneurs, the draft is available for inspection until September 10, 2026. The municipal council is expected to adopt the final version in the fourth quarter of 2026.
