Netherlands approves Zeewolde high‑voltage hub and coordinates Amsterdam harbour wind turbines

The Dutch Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) gave formal approval on 7 May for the expansion of the Vogelweg High Voltage System, enabling the Energyhub Zeewolde project to connect its 88 MW wind park to the grid. The approval allows the development of charging infrastructure for logistics, transport, construction and bus services, with the first connection slated for the end of 2027. The hub will also incorporate battery storage and explore small‑scale hydrogen production to increase flexibility of the regional energy system.

Separately, the province of North Holland issued a coordination decision to streamline the permitting process for new wind turbines in the Amsterdam harbour area. The measure aims to prepare and publish project decisions and required permits together, allowing stakeholders to review and comment in a single process. Design decisions and permits are expected to be available for public inspection in 2027, after which a final decision on the turbines will be made.
