Dutch runners gear up for charitable Omloop and Marathon The Hague 2026
Frans‑Pieter Huizer and Dieuwke Born will take part in the Omloop Goeree‑Overflakkee, a 110‑kilometre ride scheduled for 28‑29 August 2026. They are running to raise funds for KiKa, the Dutch childhood‑cancer charity, motivated by Huizer’s nephew, Tjeerd, who is undergoing treatment for a rare sarcoma.
Meanwhile, the Hague Road Runners have opened enrollment for a 23‑week training programme designed to prepare participants for the Marathon The Hague on 1 November 2026. The project membership, costing €125, offers three weekly sessions, a marathon shirt, and social activities, with a deadline for sign‑up in mid‑June.
Both initiatives highlight a growing trend in the Netherlands of linking athletic challenges with fundraising or structured preparation for major running events.
