Dutch sports infrastructure projects move ahead in Zeist and Voorthuizen
The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) continued work on its "Campus of the Future" in Zeist, finalising the nature vision and business plan and preparing a spatial framework that will guide the expansion. The plan aims to provide long‑term capacity for elite sport, talent development, innovation and club support, with a target to have the spatial plan ready by November and a draft environmental plan for public view in spring 2027.
In the municipality of Barneveld, the council advanced a revised environmental plan for a new multifunctional sports and association site on the Oude Zeumerseweg in Voorthuizen. The development will house the Oranjevereniging Voorthuizen, a childcare centre, and an ice‑ and skating rink for ’t Grieze Veen, alongside event facilities. Adjustments were made after 11 public comments, introducing rules on sound, parking, lighting and landscape integration. The council seeks approval to create a community hub that combines sport, recreation and events at the village edge.
