Dutch thriller adaptations arrive on stage and Netflix

The Netherlands is seeing new adaptations of popular thriller literature through both stage and screen.

Theatergroep het Web is performing ‘Het diner’, a stage adaptation of Herman Koch’s novel. The production combines theater, live singing, and a three-course meal to immerse the audience in a tense family conflict set during a dinner. Performances are scheduled for September 10 in Huissen and September 13 in Gendt.

On streaming platforms, Netflix will release ‘De Eetclub’ on September 10. Based on the bestseller by Saskia Noort, the thriller series follows a woman named Karen who discovers a web of lies, blackmail, and secrets within an elite social circle after a villa fire and a mysterious death.
