Dutch tourist rescued from Imbros Gorge in Sfakia

An 80-year-old Dutch tourist was successfully rescued from the Imbros Gorge in Sfakia on Thursday afternoon after experiencing sudden illness during a hike. The man was part of an organized group accompanied by a guide and his wife when the medical emergency occurred.

Following an emergency call to 112, six firefighters from the Anopolis Fire Station reached the individual. Using a stretcher, they transported him approximately three kilometers to the gorge exit at Komitades. An ambulance met the rescue team at the exit and transferred the tourist to the Sfakia Health Center for initial treatment. He may be transferred to Chania Hospital for further medical evaluation.
