Dutch towns deliver new social housing milestones

In Maassluis, the Wilgenrijk neighbourhood celebrated the completion and full rental of 148 social housing units built under phase 1 of the district development. The project, a partnership among the municipality, Thunnissen and Maasdelta Group, saw the final batch of 35 single‑family homes handed over in early 2024, marking the first full delivery of the planned social rental stock.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Weert approved the sale of four plots in the Laarveld district to housing cooperative Wonen Limburg. The land will be used to construct 35 additional social rental apartments, with a target completion date of 1 December 2027. The deal follows earlier agreements for private‑sector plots in the same phase and aims to expand affordable housing in the growing new‑build area.
