Dutch train stations evacuated after unattended luggage found

Four major Dutch train stations—Rotterdam Centraal, Utrecht Centraal, Haarlem, and Dordrecht—were partially or fully evacuated on Tuesday morning following the discovery of unattended luggage.

Police and bomb disposal units inspected the bags and suitcases at each location. In all instances, the contents were found to be non-dangerous. In Haarlem, the evacuation caused train traffic to halt for approximately ninety minutes, and nearby buildings were also cleared.

Authorities have made several arrests related to the incidents. In Utrecht, two individuals were detained on suspicion of disturbing public order, while in Haarlem, three people were arrested for suspicious behavior near the abandoned items. In Rotterdam, the owner of two suitcases later came forward, explaining she had left them to visit the city; she was not arrested.

While ProRail is investigating whether there is a link between the four separate events, police stated they currently see no direct evidence of a connection, though they noted the timing of the incidents was remarkable.
