Dutchess County moves to extend gasoline sales tax cap
The Dutchess County Legislature's Budget, Finance and Personnel Committee has voted unanimously to advance a resolution to extend the local tax cap on gasoline and highway diesel at $3 per gallon.
The current gas sales tax cap is set to expire on December 1st. Local officials are working toward an extension to help manage fuel costs for residents. The pump price for fuel in the region includes federal, state, and local taxes, including the New York State sales tax and the Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District (MTA) tax.
