DVD Fužine celebrates 150 years of firefighting service

The Volunteer Firefighting Society (DVD) Fužine celebrated its 150th anniversary with a parade, a demonstration exercise, and a formal session. As one of the oldest firefighting societies in Croatia, the organization marks a long history of service to the community.

The society was officially established on December 26, 1875, following a major fire in Vratima that destroyed two houses. Early founders included Josip Tomac, the first president, and Savin Božić, the first secretary. In its early years, members were required to provide their own uniforms and equipment.

Today, the society consists of approximately 30 members, with 15 being operationally ready for rapid intervention. The organization is currently led by President Filip Milković and Commander Lana Franković, who is the first woman to hold the position in the society's history.
