DVD Golo Brdo celebrates 50 years of firefighting service
The Volunteer Firefighting Society (DVD) Golo Brdo marked its 50th anniversary of operation. Founded on May 9, 1976, the organization celebrated its half-century of service through a holy mass, a ceremonial parade, and a demonstration of firefighting skills performed by its youngest members.
The anniversary included a formal session where the history of the society was presented and long-term members were recognized with awards for 10, 20, 30, and 50 years of service. Zdravko Sadilek was named an honorary member of the society. The organization's youth teams also achieved recent success, securing first and third place in their category at the 2026 county competition, qualifying them for regional competition.
Separately, DVD Suhopolje celebrated its 150th anniversary, marking its history since its founding in 1876. The event included a monograph presentation, an exhibition, and the awarding of various firefighting medals and honors to long-serving members.
