Dávid Strelec to remain at FC Middlesbrough

Slovak international footballer Dávid Strelec will remain at English Championship club FC Middlesbrough following the close of the transfer window. Despite recent speculation linking the 25-year-old striker to clubs such as PAOK Thessaloniki, Getafe, and a potential return to Slovan Bratislava, Middlesbrough did not receive a relevant offer to facilitate a move.

Middlesbrough coach Kim Hellberg emphasized Strelec's importance to the squad, stating that the player is a “very good player” and a “very important part of this squad.” While Strelec is currently working his way back to full match fitness following an injury sustained in a friendly against Huddersfield, Hellberg expects him to be close to returning to the starting lineup soon.

Strelec joined Middlesbrough from Slovan Bratislava in the summer of 2025 and recorded eight goals in 35 competitive appearances during his first season in England.
