Dvořák Prague festival celebrates composer's legacy with international artists

The 19th edition of the Dvořák Prague festival will take place in Prague from September 5 to 23, celebrating the legacy of composer Antonín Dvořák and marking his upcoming 185th birthday.

The festival features an international lineup of performers and ensembles. The opening concert on September 5 at the Rudolfinum will feature the Filarmonica della Scala, conducted by Riccardo Chailly, with cellist Julia Hagen performing Dvořák’s Cello Concerto and Symphony No. 9. The following day, the orchestra will return to perform works by Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky.

Other notable participants include the Vienna Philharmonic with violinist Hilary Hahn, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich conducted by Paavo Järvi, and pianist Rafał Blechacz. Mezzosoprano Magdalena Kožená will serve as the festival's resident artist, performing with the Czech Philharmonic, which remains the festival's resident orchestra.
