Dvořákova Nelahozeves celebrates 75th anniversary

The Dvořákova Nelahozeves festival is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Established in 1951, the long-standing event honors the musical legacy of composer Antonín Dvořák in his birthplace.

The anniversary program, held on the Sunday closest to the composer's birthday (September 6), includes a series of traditional and commemorative performances. The festivities begin at the Church of St. Andrew, where Dvořák was baptized, with a performance of his 'Mass in D major' by Vladimír Roubal and Collegia Strahoviense.

Other scheduled events include a ceremony at the Antonín Dvořák monument and a concert by the Orchestra of Folk Instruments of the Plzeň Region at the reconstructed interactive museum in his birthplace. The program will conclude with a performance of Dvořák's Symphony No. 9, 'From the New World,' by the Prague Conservatory Symphony Orchestra.
