Dwayne Johnson and Disney Launch Live‑Action Moana Film and Global Tour

Disney’s live‑action adaptation of “Moana” is set to open in theaters on July 10, 2026. The film is directed by Thomas Kail and stars Catherine Lagaʻaia as Moana alongside Dwayne Johnson as demigod Maui, with returning cast members Rena Owen, John Tui and Frankie Adams. Original songs are contributed by Lin‑Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina.

To promote the movie, Johnson announced a worldwide tour beginning in Hawaii on June 15, 2026. The itinerary will include stops in Shanghai (China), Sydney (Australia), London (United Kingdom), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Miami, Los Angeles and New York (United States), Puerto Rico, and Tokyo (Japan). The tour will feature appearances by the cast and discussions about the film and the legend of Maui.
