Dwayne Johnson promotes Disney's live‑action Moana in Brazil, meets local cast

Dwayne Johnson, known as The Rock, travelled to Brazil in early July 2026 to promote Disney’s live‑action adaptation of Moana, which opens in Brazilian cinemas on 8 July. He reprises his role as Maui and also serves as a producer of the film.

During a Rio de Janeiro event the star met Brazilian actors Luiza Godoy, João Vitor de Paiva Bittencourt and Raphael Andrasy, who appear in the inclusive Brazilian movie Colegas e o Herdeiro. The meeting followed a social‑media campaign that rallied fans to secure the encounter and was highlighted by Disney as a dream moment for the local cast.

In a press conference Johnson announced that Disney is already scripting a sequel, "Moana 3," and praised Brazil, saying, "Here in Brazil I feel at home" and complimenting the country’s people and ocean.

Earlier in the tour a photo‑shoot in Miami featured Johnson with actress Catherine Laga’aia and composer Lin‑Manuel Miranda, promoting the same film.
