Dwayne Johnson undergoes physical transformation for new film
At the 82nd Venice Film Festival, actor Dwayne Johnson drew significant attention for a dramatic physical transformation. Appearing much slimmer than his usual physique, the actor was present to present his film, *The Smashing Machine*, directed by Benny Safdie.
To portray Mark Kerr, a former MMA champion struggling with addiction and personal tensions, Johnson underwent a rigorous physical change. While some reports suggested a weight loss of 27 kilograms, Johnson clarified that he actually gained approximately 14 kilograms (30-32 pounds) to achieve the powerful build of the fighter. This process involved 12 weeks of specialized MMA training to master professional combat movements and mobility.
His transformation also relied heavily on prosthetic makeup. For several hours each day, artist Kazu Hiro applied approximately 20 prosthetics and a wig, while also camouflaging Johnson's tattoos. The actor's slimmer appearance at the festival marks the beginning of weight loss following the production of *The Smashing Machine* in preparation for his next project, *Lizard Music*.
