Dwight Powell may return to the Dallas Mavericks

Dwight Powell may have a chance to continue his long tenure with the Dallas Mavericks. Despite being a free agent, the 35-year-old Canadian veteran is expected to receive an official invitation to the team’s upcoming training camp.

Powell was recently seen at a mini-camp in Los Angeles alongside Kyrie Irving, Cooper Flagg, and coach Dusty May. While he has been a staple of the franchise since 2014, his role has transitioned into that of a veteran presence and locker room leader.

Securing a spot on the roster will be challenging, as the Mavericks currently have 15 players under standard contracts, meaning the roster is technically full. For Powell to join the rotation for a potential thirteenth consecutive season, the organization would need to make a roster move to create space.
