Dwight Yorke expresses interest in coaching Ghana national team

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has expressed interest in becoming the head coach of Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, following the departure of Carlos Queiroz. Yorke emphasized that he should be viewed as an established manager rather than a former player seeking an entry into the profession, citing his previous coaching experience with Australia’s Macarthur FC and the Trinidad and Tobago national team.

Yorke suggested that Ghana must better utilize its diaspora talent, particularly players developed in the United Kingdom, to strengthen the squad. He noted that the national team has appeared disjointed in recent years and requires a stronger team culture and clearer organizational direction to regain consistency.

In terms of leadership philosophy, Yorke stated that he intends to implement high standards where all players are treated equally regardless of reputation. He also highlighted the importance of building a unified vision to ensure players and football administration are working toward the same goals.
