DyDo Drinco launches coffee-free latte to address supply risks

DyDo Drinco has announced the launch of ‘DyDo Good Latte 2050’, a limited-edition beverage that replicates the taste and aroma of coffee without using coffee beans or artificial flavorings. The product utilizes chickpeas and chicory to achieve a deep bitterness and savory aroma, aiming to address the ‘Coffee 2050 Problem’—the risk of unstable coffee supplies due to climate change and increasing global demand.

Other major beverage companies in Japan are also developing coffee-free alternatives. Coca-Cola Japan is set to release a corn-derived coffee-flavored beverage under the ‘Georgia’ brand, while Asahi Soft Drinks is developing plant-based caffeine alternatives scheduled for release between 2026 and 2027.

Regarding corporate performance, DyDo Group Holdings reported a net loss of approximately 30.3 billion yen for the fiscal year ending January 2026, impacted by impairment losses in its domestic vending machine business. However, the company’s most recent interim results for the period ending July 2026 showed a recovery, with operating profit increasing by 388.2% year-on-year, driven largely by significant growth in overseas beverage operations, particularly in Turkey.
