Dylan Dreyer reports on marine conservation in Alaska
Today Show anchor Dylan Dreyer traveled to Ketchikan, Alaska, for a special assignment focused on marine conservation. During her reporting, she highlighted efforts by the cruise industry, specifically MSC Cruises, to protect humpback whales from vessel strikes.
Dreyer worked with marine mammal scientists to investigate how ship crews can better navigate waters to avoid impacting whale populations. The segment featured footage of humpback whales in Southeast Alaska, where more than 500 visit during the summer months.
Dreyer noted the logistical challenges of the assignment, including a four-hour time difference from New York City that required her to wake up at 1:30 a.m. to report live.
