Dylan Groenewegen to return to racing after training accident

Dutch sprinter Dylan Groenewegen is set to return to professional cycling this Friday at the Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen. His comeback follows a training accident last week near Uithoorn, where he was struck by a motorcyclist at a roundabout.

The collision resulted in a muscle tear near his ribs, forcing him to miss the GP Fourmies. Despite the injury and significant damage to his bicycle, Groenewegen reported that his pain has subsided sufficiently to allow for a competitive return.

His return to racing will serve as an immediate test of his physical condition, as he will face top competitors including Tim Merlier and Jasper Philipsen in the Flemish semi-classic. Groenewegen, riding for the Unibet Rose Rockets, stated that while he may not be at 100 percent, he feels ready to race.
