Dylan Harper leads San Antonio Spurs in preseason loss to Atlanta Hawks

The San Antonio Spurs lost their NBA preseason opener against the Atlanta Hawks with a score of 123-116. Despite the loss, sophomore guard Dylan Harper made a strong impression in his first preseason start.

Harper recorded 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists in 19 minutes of play, shooting 5-of-7 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range. He was placed in the starting lineup after De’Aaron Fox was a late scratch due to soreness. Harper started alongside Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Julian Champagnie, and Victor Wembanyama.

Following the game, Harper expressed confidence in the team’s offensive potential, noting that the combination of himself, Castle, and Wembanyama will be difficult for opponents to guard due to mismatches and unselfish play. Head coach Mitch Johnson highlighted the team's depth and noted that the preseason will allow for continued experimentation with different lineup combinations.
