Dallas Stars lock up forward Jason Robertson with one‑year $12 million contract

The Dallas Stars and forward Jason Robertson reached a one‑year agreement worth $12 million, avoiding a salary‑arbitration hearing that had been scheduled for late July. The deal runs through the 2026‑27 season and makes Robertson an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2027, though he can begin negotiations on an extension as early as 1 January 2027.

Robertson posted 45 goals and 51 assists for 96 points in the 2025‑26 regular season, the third 40‑goal campaign of his career and a fourth‑place league finish in goal scoring. He also led Dallas in the playoffs with five goals in six games. His career totals now stand at 213 goals, 277 assists and 490 points in 456 regular‑season games.

General manager Jim Nill praised Robertson as a “cornerstone of our franchise” and noted the $12 million average annual value matches teammate Mikko Rantanen for the highest cap hit on the roster. The contract puts the Stars about $1.36 million over the salary cap for the current season, but the front office sees the short‑term deal as a way to retain a top offensive talent while preserving flexibility for future extensions.
