Dylan Larkin's Trade Demand Stalls Detroit Red Wings Plans

Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin, who is under a $69.6 million contract with a no‑trade clause, reiterated his request to be traded shortly after the season ended on April 15. The request comes as former general manager Steve Yzerman has departed and assistant GM Shawn Horcoff is handling day‑to‑day operations, though he lacks authority to execute trades.

Owner Christopher Ilitch has hired a search firm to find a new GM, while Larkin has limited his preferred destinations to the Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers. All four clubs face salary‑cap constraints, with Minnesota having the most available space. Analysts suggest a third team may need to be involved to satisfy the financial and contractual complexities. As training camp approaches, the trade remains unresolved, leaving the Red Wings without their captain and without a permanent general manager.
