Fatmir Sheholli indicted for espionage and blackmail in Kosovo

The Special Prosecution Office of Kosovo has filed an indictment against analyst Fatmir Sheholli, charging him with espionage and blackmail. The prosecution alleges that Sheholli was recruited by the Serbian Security Intelligence Agency (BIA) to collect and transmit sensitive information regarding Kosovo’s political activities, security situation, and institutional functions.

Evidence cited in the 80-page indictment includes communications via encrypted messaging apps with high-ranking BIA official Bojan Dimić. The prosecution claims Sheholli received regular monthly payments from Serbian state institutions, including the Tanjug news agency and the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, totaling hundreds of thousands of dinars. Additionally, the indictment alleges Sheholli engaged in blackmail by threatening to release compromising videos to extort money from an individual.

Further details in the case suggest that Sheholli’s activities were part of a broader effort to influence local elections and compromise high-level officials, including Prime Minister Albin Kurti. Sheholli remains in pre-trial detention as the case proceeds to the Basic Court in Pristina.
