Dynamic Creatures launches to develop entertainment robots

Dynamic Creatures, a new startup founded by Boston Dynamics veterans, has launched to develop robotic characters for the entertainment and hospitality sectors. The company is led by CEO Marc Theermann, former chief strategy officer at Boston Dynamics, and CTO Farbod Farshidian, a former research leader at the Robotics and AI Institute.

Targeting environments such as theme parks, casinos, cruise ships, and retail settings, Dynamic Creatures focuses on character development and adaptive behavior. The company intends to write specialized software while sourcing hardware from providers including Unitree, AgiBot, and Boston Dynamics.

As part of its launch, Dynamic Creatures has been named the official entertainment and hospitality partner for Boston Dynamics. The startup aims to create robots that are comfortable for human interaction, with Theermann noting that safety must be redesigned “from the ground up” to ensure people feel comfortable engaging with the machines.
