Dynamo Dresden appeals DFB ruling on spectator ban

Dynamo Dresden has filed an appeal with the Permanent Arbitration Court of the German Football Association (DFB) following a ruling that mandates a partial spectator ban for their upcoming home match against Darmstadt 98. The club is seeking to challenge the decision of the DFB Federal Court, which upheld a previous penalty stemming from severe fan violence during a match against Hertha BSC on April 4.

The original incident involved clashes between fans and police, the use of pyrotechnics, and fans entering the pitch, resulting in at least 17 injuries. The current penalty includes a fine of 91,000 euros and the closure of approximately 9,500 seats in the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion, specifically within the K-Block.

Dynamo Dresden's Managing Director, Stephan Zimmermann, stated that the club is first pursuing a stay of execution for the penalty until the arbitration process is complete. A decision regarding whether the spectator ban will be suspended for the upcoming match is expected this Tuesday. The club will inform supporters regarding the validity of existing tickets for the affected blocks once clarity is reached.
