Dynamo Dresden to play without part of fans after DFB upholds sanctions

Germany's football governing body, the DFB, confirmed the penalties imposed on Dynamo Dresden following the April 4 riots against Hertha BSC. The DFB federal court rejected Dynamo's appeal, keeping in place a partial stadium ban for the club's first 2. Bundesliga home match on 16 August against SV Darmstadt 98. Sections K1‑K5 of the standing blocks must be closed and only half of the guest tickets may be sold for the next two fixtures against Hertha.

The club was also fined €91,200, while Hertha BSC received a €152,000 penalty. The original incident involved 27 pyrotechnic devices, a 19‑minute match interruption and at least 17 injuries. DFB federal court chair Oskar Riedmeyer described the shooting of fireworks at spectators as "unacceptable" and warned that mass entry onto the pitch undermines competition integrity. Dynamo Dresden said it will review the judgment and consider further legal steps.
