Dynatrace report shows AI is redefining SRE and platform engineering

A global study by Dynatrace titled ‘The State of SRE and Platform Engineering 2026’ reveals that the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence is fundamentally reshaping the roles of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and platform engineering teams. Based on a survey of 919 IT leaders, the research indicates that these teams are becoming central to AI governance, ensuring that workloads remain reliable, scalable, and secure as they move into production.

Key findings show that 67% of SREs identify AI model monitoring as their primary use case, with 58% already utilizing AI-powered capabilities to track model performance and accuracy. While 92% of organizations report executive support for SRE initiatives, enterprises face ongoing challenges such as operational complexity, fragmented data, and difficulties integrating existing tools.

To address the growing demand for AI evaluation and observability, Dynatrace has announced its intention to acquire Arize. This move aims to integrate AI-native evaluation directly into observability platforms, helping teams manage the gap between AI development and operations.
