DYPA nursery stations host 1,394 children across Greece

As of September 1, 2026, 27 of the 28 nursery stations operated by the Public Employment Service (DYPA) are in operation across Greece. These facilities provide free childcare, meals, and preschool education to 1,394 infants and toddlers aged six months to eight years, supporting both working and unemployed parents.

The network covers Attica and several major regional cities, including Thessaloniki, Patras, Ioannina, Kalamata, Kavala, Komotini, and Trikala. Notably, the Giannoulis nursery station in Larissa, which suffered significant damage during Storm Daniel in September 2023, is scheduled to reopen in the second half of September with an initial capacity of 22 children.

DYPA has confirmed that all stations have completed required fire protection interventions in accordance with Fire Service guidelines. While 385 application cancellations were recorded during the selection process, authorities are currently reviewing pending applications to fill available spots, with active registrations expected to increase by the end of September.
