DYPA reports over 10,000 Crete residents benefited from employment programs and 24,400 from training

The Public Employment Service (DYPA) announced that more than 10,000 citizens in Crete participated in its employment schemes between August 2019 and June 2026. During that period 41 programmes were implemented, assisting 10,038 people: 5,180 entered new‑job creation schemes, 1,815 gained work experience, 1,857 received entrepreneurship support and 1,186 took part in special employment measures. Women made up 65% of programme beneficiaries, 38% were under 29, 15% were over 55 and 34% were long‑term unemployed.

In parallel, 24,409 individuals took part in 12 training actions funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund. Among them 15,912 were trained in digital skills, 7,553 in green skills, 409 in financial literacy, 353 in export‑related skills and 170 in commerce. Women accounted for 68% of trainees. DYPA Director Gianna Chormova highlighted Crete’s strong development potential, pronounced seasonal labour‑market dynamics and the need for targeted skill building.
