Dyreværnet rescues 37 animals from neglect in Zealand
Dyreværnet has rescued 37 animals from a residence in Zealand, Denmark, following a significant animal welfare case. The rescue operation, conducted in collaboration with the Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi, took place over two days.
The animals removed include 11 hamsters, 11 rabbits, 7 guinea pigs, 5 cats, and 3 dogs. Rescuers reported finding animals in small cages within a home that showed signs of long-term neglect, including lack of cleanliness and insufficient food. Specific injuries were noted, such as a guinea pig with a broken limb and a dog that appeared severely underweight.
Nina Amdi, rescue chief at Dyreværnet, stated that the situation escalated as the owner acquired more pets and animals produced offspring. While the owner cooperated with authorities, the organization expects to retrieve more animals from the address in the coming weeks. The rescued animals will undergo health checks before being prepared for adoption.
