Dyson enters oral care market with camera-guided toothbrush
Dyson has entered the oral care market with the launch of the CameraJet, an electric toothbrush featuring a camera-guided liquid flosser. The device aims to simplify dental routines by combining brushing with targeted mouthwash bursts.
The toothbrush utilizes Gap Optical Targeting technology, which employs a 100,000-pixel macro camera to capture 28 images per second. Using machine learning algorithms trained on over 400,000 images, the system identifies gaps between teeth in real time to trigger a precise, conical jet of liquid. This design is intended to distribute pressure and reduce discomfort compared to traditional needle-like water jets.
Additional technical features include variable acoustic vibration technology to improve plaque removal and an anti-gravity tank design to ensure stable liquid delivery at various angles. Dyson plans to release specialized toothpaste and non-alcoholic mouthwash to complement the hardware. The product is currently available through various e-commerce platforms, including Amazon in Japan.
