Dyson fan shortage and discounted cooling devices spark surge in consumer demand

Dyson’s portable HushJet Mini Cool fan has been out of stock since April as soaring temperatures in cities such as Manhattan drive strong consumer interest. Priced at US$100, the premium fan outsells lower‑priced models, with Dyson reporting that each restock sells out within hours. The device delivers airflow up to 88 km/h but reviewers note noticeable noise and shorter battery life than the advertised six hours.

At the same time, retailers in Portugal are promoting a range of budget fans from brands like Xiaomi, Deerma and Rowenta, offering discounts of up to 42 %. Prices range from €39.99 to €199, with features such as modular designs, 20‑blade airflow systems and adjustable oscillation aimed at delivering affordable cooling solutions during the heat wave.
