Dyson study highlights household cleaning challenges in India

A study by Dyson titled ‘How India Cleans’ has identified significant challenges faced by Indian households regarding floorcare and dust removal. Surveying over 650 respondents across seven cities, the research found that while many residents spend between 30 minutes and two hours cleaning floors, existing products often struggle to effectively remove fine dust, hair, and debris from various surfaces.

The study noted that Indian homes feature diverse flooring, including marble (51%), vitrified or ceramic tiles (49%), and carpets or rugs (72%). Dyson indicated that these findings help identify technological gaps, as consumers increasingly demand vacuum cleaners capable of handling multiple surfaces and hard-to-reach areas in a single cleaning session.
