DYSTOPIA A. D. announces new album and single

New Jersey-based progressive death metal band DYSTOPIA A. D. has announced their upcoming studio album, ‘Wasteland Empire’, which is scheduled for independent release on January 15, 2027.

Alongside the album announcement, the band unveiled their new single, ‘Breath of Decay’. The track features a blend of technical and melodic death metal with progressive rock and power metal influences. Notably, the song opens with frantic Latin percussion inspired by jazz fusion legend Al Di Meola’s ‘Chasin’ the Voodoo’ before transitioning into dissonant black metal riffs and snarled vocals. Additional percussion on the track was provided by Gabriel R.

The single’s lyrical themes are set in the Louisiana bayou, exploring psychological concepts of guilt, fear, and helplessness to create a sense of panic. The five-track album was produced, mixed, and mastered by the band.
