Düzce Atatürk State Hospital begins PET-CT installation

Installation and site preparation have begun for a new PET-CT device at Düzce Atatürk State Hospital in Turkey. The investment, valued between approximately 2 million and 3.5 million dollars, aims to strengthen the region's healthcare infrastructure.

Technical preparations are currently underway, including the construction of specialized areas such as device rooms, technical rooms, injection areas, hot rooms, and waste rooms. To ensure radiation safety, workers are installing specialized concrete, lead sheets, and lead glass. The facility is also being equipped with necessary cooling systems, generator load tolerances, and electrical infrastructure to ensure continuous operation.

As a high-tech nuclear medicine tool, the PET-CT scanner provides simultaneous anatomical and metabolic imaging, which is critical for the diagnosis and staging of cancer. Once operational, the device is expected to significantly reduce the need for local patients to travel to other provinces for advanced medical imaging, thereby lowering time and transportation costs.
