Düzce launches livestock infrastructure project for small ruminant breeders

In Düzce, Turkey, officials have launched the Small Ruminant Livestock Infrastructure Strengthening Project to support local breeders and improve animal health. Under the auspices of the Düzce Governorship, the project involves a collaboration between the Special Provincial Administration and the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.

The project includes the delivery of one mobile small ruminant washing machine and 40 shearing machines to the Düzce Breeding Sheep and Goat Breeders Union. The total budget for the initiative is 584,000 TL, with 492,000 TL funded by the Special Provincial Administration and 92,000 TL provided through contributions from the union and breeders.

Local officials noted that Düzce hosts approximately 263 small ruminant enterprises with about 20,000 animals, producing roughly 150 tons of meat annually. The new equipment is expected to reduce the workload for farmers, combat external parasites and related diseases, and increase productivity in meat, milk, and breeding yields.
