Düzce Mayor Faruk Özlü Plans Tourism Development at Yeni Vakıf Göleti

Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü met with Çilimli Mayor Yılmaz Yıldız to conduct a site inspection of the Yeni Vakıf Göleti area. The officials discussed a joint project to transform the 320‑dunam reservoir site, which includes a 2‑kilometre walking trail, into a multi‑purpose tourism destination.

The planned facilities will feature bungalows, a picnic area, a restaurant and units for water and mountain sports. A draft design will be prepared by specialist consultants, followed by detailed feasibility studies. After the design phase, the project will be reviewed with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Düzce municipality may contribute to part of the planning costs. The aim is to create a sustainable tourism hub that boosts the local economy and offers combined mountain‑and‑water recreation.

Both mayors emphasized cooperation between the Düzce and Çilimli municipalities throughout the planning and implementation stages.
