Düzce Municipality completes testing for €45 million water project

Düzce Municipality has reached a significant milestone in its €45 million drinking water network renewal project. Technical teams, led by Water and Sewerage Manager Mehmet Emin Tangüner, recently completed quality and compliance testing for valves and additional components in İzmir.

The project was initiated to modernize the city’s aging infrastructure, which has suffered damage from past earthquakes and currently faces a water loss and leakage rate of 54 percent. The upgrade involves installing long-lasting ductile pipes, including 1600 mm diameter main transmission lines.

To date, 45 kilometers of new water network have been laid. Once the 21-month project is complete, the city will be divided into 39 distinct zones. These zones will utilize District Metered Area (DMA) rooms to allow for real-time monitoring of water flow, enabling faster leak detection, reduced maintenance costs, and more localized water service interruptions.
