Düzce officials test new asphalt roads using TOGG electric vehicle
Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü and AK Party MP Ayşe Keşir conducted a driving test using Turkey’s domestic electric vehicle, TOGG, to evaluate the quality of newly paved roads in Düzce.
Mayor Özlü reported that the municipality has laid 62,000 tons of asphalt to date, with work continuing as weather permits. He noted that rising petroleum prices have increased costs, leading the municipality to determine asphalt thickness based on specific traffic density to ensure efficient resource use. To minimize disruption, paving operations are being carried out at three different locations simultaneously, including during night hours when traffic is low.
MP Ayşe Keşir expressed support for the administration’s strategy of prioritizing infrastructure before surface works. She emphasized that completing essential services, such as the renewal of the drinking water network, is vital for the long-term durability of urban improvements and the efficient use of public resources.
